Job Responsibilities:
Job Responsibilities:
- The Utility division installs pipes for storm for sanitary sewer, storm drains, and water mains. The Pipe Layer is responsible for preparing and installing the various underground pipes.
- Check grade.
- Set up laser for pipe alignment.
- Cut pipes to required lengths.
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
- Lay out pipe routes, follow specifications or blueprints, and coordinate layouts with a supervisor.
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
- Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
- Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
- Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
- Promote and adhere to the company’s safety program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age.
- A MINIMUM of 3+ years of experience is required.
- GED or high school diploma preferred.
